COM Object Tester
COM objects facilitate communication between workstation (client) and server machines in peer-to-peer or dedicated server networks and between C++ dlls and .NET assemblies in all systems by matching the different program languages so that they can understand each other. Refer to
Install Denali to find out more about different network configurations.
The COM Object Manager allows you, often with the assistance of Customer Support, to test the COM objects to ensure that they were created correctly by the system. If you are having problems connecting to the server, try testing the COM objects as part of the troubleshooting process.
To test a COM object:
1 From the Denali Client Utilities menu, select the COM Object Tester.
Click thumbnail for a larger view of image.
2 Select either Create NetDLL.LoadNetMethods or Create NetDLL.LoadNetDLL to test creating dll and .NET assemblies on the workstation (client) machine.
3 Click Exit to exit this utility after you are done testing the COM objects.
4 If the COM object creation fails, it will cause a fatal system-wide error.
• Reinstall the COM object. If you are unsure of this task, contact Customer Support at (800) 390-7053 or an IT professional.
