Codes allow you a great amount of flexibility in the software. You can use the codes in many different ways depending on the module. Each module allows you to create codes to direct posting and further customize how you want the software to work for you.

For example, Inventory uses Inventory Codes to identify groups of stock items and apply specific settings to those stock items. When you create multiple Inventory Codes, you can specify the General Ledger accounts you want to post to for specific stock items as well as the valuation method and the default Sales Tax Code. You can also use Codes to sort inventory items for reports. Refer to Defining Inventory Codes for more information.

It is a good idea to be familiar with the codes available in all the modules you have installed so you can be sure you use all the associated features in Denali.
