IN Renumber Stock Items window
In certain circumstances you might want to change the number of some of your stock items. Use the renumber stock items function to accomplish this. This option renumbers the item in Inventory, as well as in open transactions and the transaction history from other modules. This means that anywhere the stock number appears, the system changes the old number to the new number.
Old Stock Item
Enter the stock item you want to renumber. This is the stock number you use to identify the item throughout the system.
Description
The description of the stock item you selected in the Old Stock Item box appears here. This box autofills based on the information you entered for this stock item in the IN Stock window. You cannot manually change it when you renumber.
IN Code and Type
The Inventory Code and Type of the stock item you selected in the Old Stock Item box appears in these labels. These boxes autofill based on the information you entered for this stock item in the IN Stock window. You cannot manually change it when you renumber.
Location
The location of the stock item you selected in the Old Stock Item box appears here. This box autofills based on the information you entered for this stock item in the IN Stock window. You cannot manually change it when you renumber.
New Stock Item
Enter the new stock number for the stock item you selected in the Old Stock Item box. The stock number you enter in this box replaces the number in the Old Stock Item box, and the system uses this number to refer to this item from now on. The system renumbers all references to the old number, which includes posted and unposted transactions and history information.
