IN Set Up Stock Alias window
Aliases allow you to have several stock numbers for any one item. This is useful if you purchase identical items from more than one supplier or if you delete a replaced stock item. Use the Superseded option when you have a new stock item that replaces an existing stock item. See Set Up Additional Identifiers for Stock Items for additional information.
Stock ID
Select the stock number to which you want to assign an alias. If this item already has one or more aliases, select the Edit button to add an additional alias.
Print
Select one of these print options to specify the order in which the stock items and their aliases print. Because aliases do not appear in Lookups and you must manually enter them (except when you use a scanner device), a printed list is often helpful.
Order by Stock
If you select this option, the list of stock items and their aliases will print in alphabetical order by stock number. Below each stock item, the alias(es) for that stock item will be listed in alphabetical order.
Order by Alias
If you select this option, the list of stock items and their aliases will print in alphabetical order by alias, with the stock number that is associated with each alias printed to the right of the alias.
Associated Alias Grid
Use this grid to set up the associated aliases for the inventory item.
Associated Alias
Enter the associated alias for the selected item. Any time you enter an alias in the Stock Number box when you purchase, edit, or sell the item, the system will automatically retrieve the actual stock number.
Multi-Pack Code
If you have Specialty Shop installed, you can specify the Multi-Pack Code to use for this alias.
Variant
This column is only available for stock items that have variants. Enter the variant for this alias. If you enter this alias in Sales or Purchase Order, the variant you attach will autofill in the Description field.
