Sales Department Codes window
Sales Department Codes allow you to track sales by department and direct posting of sales to the appropriate Sales Income accounts in General Ledger. You need at least one Sales Department Code for each Sales Income account you have in your
Chart of Accounts.
Sales Department
Enter a Sales Department Code of up to six characters or use the Lookup to select an existing code to edit. This code appears in Lookups and on some reports.
Description
Enter a description, for example, the department’s name. This description appears in the Lookup and on some reports.
General Ledger Sales Accounts
In this section of the window, enter the Sales Income accounts to post to for this Department Code.
Inventory Sales Account
If the Sales Income account you post to is determined by the department from which the item is sold, enter the account in this field. This account overrides the Sales Income account
assigned to the stock item. If the Sales Income account you post to is determined per item and not by the department, leave this field blank. The stock item will post to the account assigned to it in the
IN Stock window.
Non-Inventory Sales Account
If the Sales Income account you post to is determined by the department from which the non-inventory item is sold, enter the account in this field. This account overrides the Sales Income account
assigned to the non-inventory item. If the Sales Income account you post to is determined per item and not by the department, leave this field blank. The non-inventory item will post to the account assigned to it in the
Sales Non-Inventory Codes window.
Special Order Account
Enter the Sales Income account you want to post
special order items to. A special order is an item you enter during a sale that isn’t set up as an inventory or non-inventory item. You must enter an account in this field to save the Department Code.
