Sales Hardware Wizard window (Specify Connection Settings)
Use this window of the wizard to specify the connection for the device. The exact title of the window will reflect the type of device you specified in the first wizard window.
Device Code  
The code you entered in the first window of the wizard will appear here for reference.
Description 
The description you entered in the first window of the wizard will appear here for reference. You cannot change it here, but if you want to change it, select the Back button at the bottom of the window and change it in the first window of the wizard.
Load Settings from 
Use this drop-down list to select a similar device that has already been set up from which to copy the settings.
Load Manufacturer Settings 
Use this button to use the settings from the manufacturer for the specified device. When you click this button, the Sales Load Manufacturer Settings window will open so you can choose the device for which you want to load the manufacturer’s settings.
Test Device 
Once you verify the settings are correct, you can select the Test Device button to ensure the hardware device is set up properly. When the system finishes testing the device, a message will appear indicating the status. If the device test failed, the message window will provide the necessary information to correct the problem.
Connected By
Use the radio buttons in this group to specify the way in which this device is connected to your computer. The default is Serial, and the selection you make here will determine the settings you must define in the rest of the window.
Keyboard Wedge 
A keyboard wedge device functions as if you were typing the information on the keyboard. This option is available for barcode readers and check readers. If you are creating a keyboard wedge device, select this option and click Next. For barcode readers, you can also test the device by using the Test Device button at the bottom of the window.
Parallel 
Select this option if the device you are creating is using a parallel connection. This option is available for cash drawers, customer displays (a.k.a. line or pole displays), and POS receipt printers. If you are creating a device with a parallel connection, select this option and select the parallel port from the Device Name drop-down list below.
Serial 
Select this option if the device you are creating is using a serial connection. This option is available for all the device types listed. If you are creating a device with a serial connection, select this option and complete the settings in the Serial Device Settings group below.
Printer Code 
This option is only available for cash drawer devices. If this is a cash drawer device, select the printer code you wish to use for this device. The drawer control codes will then be sent to the specified printer to open the cash drawer.
Serial Device Settings
For devices using serial connections, specify the settings in this section of the window. Use the documentation that came with your hardware to determine the correct settings. After specifying the settings, test the device (optional, and for barcode reader devices only), and then click Next at the bottom of the window.
Device Name 
Your options for serial devices are COM1 through COM8. Select the port that coincides with the device connection.
Data Bits 
This is only available with serial connections and includes the options of 5, 6, 7, and 8 (default).
Parity 
This is only available with serial connections and includes the options of None (default), Odd, and Even.
Stop Bits 
This is only available with serial connections and includes the options of 1 Stop Bit (default) and 2 Stop Bits.
Baud Rate 
This is only available with serial connections and includes the options of 100, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 (default), 14400, 19200, and 28000. This indicates the connection speed between the device and the system.
Parallel Device Settings
For devices using parallel connections, specify the device setting in this section of the window. Use the documentation that came with your hardware to determine the correct setting. After specifying the setting, click Next at the bottom of the window.
Device Name 
Select the port to which this device will be connected. You can choose from all available parallel ports.
