Sales Point of Sale Preferences window: POS User-Defined Fields tab
Use this tab to customize the Header User-Defined Field boxes that appear in the top portion of the Sales POS Register window and the Detail field boxes that appear in the Detail section of the window.
Create up to five general User-Defined Fields and five line item User-Defined Fields.
Header
Header User-Defined Fields will appear in the top section of the Sales POS Register window.
Field Type 
This is the type of information that can be entered into this User-Defined Field when it appears in the Sales POS Register window. There are three field types: Character, Number, and Date.
Caption 
Enter a caption for the field. The caption is the field title that appears in the Sales POS Register window.
Formatting 
Enter the formatting instructions for the field. The format defines how data can be entered in the field by the user. Character fields allow a maximum of 30 characters. Numeric fields allow a maximum of 11 digits with 4 decimals. Date fields allow caption entry only - the date format is already specified.
Detail
Detail User-Defined Fields will appear in the Detail section of the Sales POS Register window. Refer to the Header section in this topic for information on Field Type, Caption, and Formatting. The only difference is that these fields will appear in the Detail grid of the Sales POS Register window instead of the Header section of the window.
