CMS Fiscal Calendar window
Use this window to define the fiscal year for your organization. Five years of
calendars can be open at any given time and all data will be visible for the specified calendar.
NOTE: We highly recommend that you finalize your fiscal calendar settings before you enter any transactions. Once you select the Balance Forward Entries Completed check box in GL Module Preferences, the Number of Periods and Fiscal Year Start boxes will be locked and you cannot edit them. |
Present Period
Enter the number of the present period. A period represents a specific time frame of the fiscal calendar (usually one month). This setting is used as the default period for General Ledger reports.
Date Block Period
You cannot record activity to a date in or before the period you specify here. Even if the posting date is after the date block period, you cannot post if the activity date is in or before this period.
Number of Periods
Use this setting to enter the number of periods that are in a year. A thirteenth period can be used as a one-day period to post ending transactions or adjustment transactions; using this option ensures the adjusting transactions won’t skew the monthly reporting figures.
Fiscal Year Start
Use the drop-down calendar to specify the first day of your fiscal year. If your fiscal calendar is the same as a standard calendar year, this date would be January 1st.
Roll Calendar Forward
This button only appears if General Ledger is not installed. Click this button to roll the fiscal calendar forward one year. If you are in the first year of the fiscal calendar, the button is disabled.
