Sales Hardware Wizard window (Device Settings)
Use this window of the wizard to specify the command settings, such as separator characters, for the device. The title of the window will reflect the type of device you selected in the first window of the wizard.
This window will appear only for the cash drawer and weight scale. Even though a bar code reader is a wedge device, this window does not appear when setting up a bar code reader.
For Cash Drawer Devices
If you are creating a cash drawer device, you need to specify the device settings in this window.
Device Code 
The code you entered in the first window of the wizard will appear here for reference.
Description 
The description you entered in the first window of the wizard will appear here for reference.
Open Drawer 
Enter the command used by your device to open the cash drawer. This will be specified in the documentation that came with your device.
Input Values As Hex 
Select this check box if the command you entered in the Open Drawer box should be input in the system with hex values. This will be specified in the device documentation.
For Check Franker Devices
If you are creating a check franker device, you need to specify a few settings. You can also use this window to test the setup of the device.
Slip Station 
This is an optional setting that you can use to indicate the control characters to send all subsequent commands to the slip printer. This may be needed for check frankers that also have a built in receipt printer.
Input Values as Hex 
Select this check box if the values you entered in the Separator Character boxes are to be entered as Hex characters in the system. Refer to the documentation that came with your check reader to determine whether or not to select this check box.
Receipt Station 
This is an optional setting that you can use to indicate the control characters to send all subsequent commands to the receipt printer. This may be needed for check frankers that also have a built in slip printer.
Print and Eject Slip 
This is a required setting that indicates to the slip printer to print, or if the paper sensor is covered to eject the slip.
Set Column Number 
This is a required numeric only setting that determines the left-most column number in which printing on each line can start and can range from 1 to 99. This is used in combination with the Left Margin Column Number and Slip Width settings to center the endorsement text lines.
Left Margin Column Number 
This numeric only setting is used in combination with the Set Column Number setting to determine the first column to print on and can range from 1 to 99.
Slip Width 
This numeric only setting determines the width of the slip in terms of columns. This number must be greater than the Left Margin Column Number setting and can range from 1 to 99.
Endorsement Lines 
You can enter up to three lines of text for your check endorsement. Each line can be up to 50 characters in length.
Test Device 
Click this button to test the check franker device. Once the test process is complete, a message will appear to indicate the status of the test.
For Customer Display Devices
If you are creating a customer display device, you need to specify a few settings. For instance, the number of rows and columns on the display and whether to input those values as Hex. The settings you will use can be found in the documentation that came with your device. You can also use this window to test the setup of the device.
Number of Rows 
Enter the number of rows on the device. This must be a numeric entry from 0-9. The default setting is 2.
Number of Columns 
Enter the number of columns on the device. This must be a numeric entry from 0-99. The default setting is 20.
Luminance 
Use this command to set the brightness of the display. This is an optional setting.
Input Values as Hex 
Select this check box if the values you entered in the Separator Character boxes are to be entered as Hex characters in the system. Refer to the documentation that came with your check reader to determine whether or not to select this check box.
Carriage Return 
This is a required setting that is used to set the command needed to move the cursor to the left of the display and down one line.
Clear  
This is a required setting that is used to clear the display and move the cursor to the upper left line.
Device Control 
This required setting is used to send a reset command to the display device upon opening the register.
Moving Start 
This setting specifies the starting position of the text on the display. The default is 5.
Moving End 
This setting specifies the ending position of the text on the display. The default is 0D.
Cursor Off 
This setting specifies the location where the cursor is no longer visible on the display. The default is 16.
Test Device 
Click this button to test the customer display device. Once the test process is complete, a series of messages will appear to indicate the status of the test for each setting. These messages will either show the settings and ask you to verify the display or will show that the test failed and what settings need to be corrected before testing the device again.
For Weight Scale
Use the boxes that appear to set the weight scale’s device settings.
Device Code 
This box shows the Device Code for the weight scale that you entered in the Create a New Device window of the Sales Hardware Wizard.
Description 
This box shows the description for the weight scale that you entered in the Create a New Device window of the Sales Hardware Wizard.
Get Weight 
This box shows the command code used by the system to retrieve a weight scale reading. Although you can change the code by typing in this box, it automatically defaults to a command code appropriate to use with your choice of hexidecimal or non-hexidecimal values.
Input Values as Hex 
Select this check box if the weight scale device should return hexidecimal characters to the system. Refer to the documentation that came with your weight scale to determine whether or not to select this check box.
Test Device 
Click this button to test the weight scale device. Once the test process is complete, a message will appear to indicate the status of the test.
